WNBA star Angel Reese previously revealed that her basketball wage did not cover her bills.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reese, 22, is a forward for WNBA side the Chicago Sky and is widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects in the league.<\/p>\n

And despite her popularity growing in recent years, she has been outspoken about salaries in women\u2019s basketball.<\/p>\n

In October 2024, she took to social media to explain how her paycheck of $73,000 hardly covered her $8,000 monthly rent which amounts to $96,000 per year.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"WNBA<\/p>\n

\u201cI just hope y\u2019all know the WNBA don\u2019t pay my bills at all,\u201d Reese said during an Instagram livestream last year, via\u00a0ESPN.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t even think that pays one of my bills, [the salary] isn\u2019t enough to pay my car note, I wouldn\u2019t even be able to eat, I wouldn\u2019t be able to live,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m living beyond my means!\u201d joked the WNBA star.<\/p>\n

And that was not the first time that she publicly discussed players\u2019 wages in the WNBA.<\/p>\n

But the 22-year-old has also explained how she is grateful for the amount she earns.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing able to play for what, four to five months, and get $75,000 on top of the other endorsements that I\u2019m doing, I think it\u2019s a plus for me,\u201d she said in May 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing able to make six figures within three months [in Unrivaled], being able to be housed in Miami, just being able to get better \u2026. I think it\u2019s amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unrivaled is a 3-on-3 basketball league which features 36 WNBA players and offers the highest salaries in women\u2019s sports history \u2013 with the average salary reportedly worth around $220,000 \u2013 close to the WNBA\u2019s maximum base salary \u2013 according to\u00a0AP.<\/p>\n

While\u00a0MARCA\u00a0reports that the 36 players are paid at least $100,000 \u2013 and are also offered equity in the organisation.<\/p>\n

However, the aforementioned figures are still a far cry away from the wages received by\u00a0NBA\u00a0stars, with\u00a0Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry reportedly having earned $51.9m during the 2023\/24 season.<\/p>\n

In comparison, the highest-paid WNBA star was the Las Vegas Aces player Jackie Young who reportedly earns around $252,000 per year on her current contract.<\/p>\n
