And if you thought that was bad, the White House also confirmed in a fact sheet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/fact-sheets\/2025\/03\/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-adjusts-imports-of-automobiles-and-automobile-parts-into-the-united-states\/\">shared on its website<\/a> that auto parts will face the same 25% tariff, even if said parts are used in cars assembled here in the States. Needless to say, automakers are now facing a serious logistical mess.<\/p>\n<p>To complicate matters further, automakers importing cars under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will get some temporary relief. However, that\u2019s only until the Commerce Department figures out how to apply the tariffs. And, for now, USMCA-compliant auto parts will remain tariff-free, but don\u2019t get too comfortable. But nope, they\u2019ve been outdone. The real MVP of red, white, and blue automotive pride is, of all companies, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/tag\/tesla\/\">Tesla<\/a>. Yes, the same tech bro\u2013magnet that brought you memes, stock market drama, and cars with questionable panel gaps is also the most \u201cMade in the USA\u201d brand by a considerable margin.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the first time we\u2019ve learned just how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/tag\/usa\/\">American<\/a>-made Tesla\u2019s ever-popular EVs are. Back in June, the Tesla Model 3 topped a list produced by Cars.com. This latest ranking comes from the Kogod School of Business at American University and identifies the 25 cars built in the US that incorporate the most American-made content.<\/p>\n<p>Importantly, the analysis considers parts originating in the US and Canada as both domestic content. It was followed closely by the Tesla Model Y Long Range and the base Model Y, which tied for second place with 85% domestic content. The Tesla Cybertruck came in third at 82.5%, ahead of the Tesla Model S and Model X, which tied at 80%. According to Frank DuBois, the author of the study, Tesla\u2019s domestic dominance isn\u2019t airtight. He told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kbb.com\/car-news\/study-tesla-makes-the-most-american-cars\/\">KBB<\/a> that Tesla still relies on a decent chunk of Chinese parts, especially motors and batteries, and could be impacted by new tariff policies introduced by the next Trump administration. <\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that if you exclude the motors and batteries of the second-place Model 3 Long Range, it \u201chas 40% Chinese content.\u201d Similarly, the Cybertruck has 20%, with Chinese parts typically found in \u201cseats, dashboard components, and so on,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAutomotive executives like to see stability in trade relationships with our major trade partners,\u201d DuBois added.
