Trump ENDS Secret Service protection for Biden children after learning of \u2018ridiculous\u2019 cost to taxpayers<\/p>\n

President\u00a0Donald Trump<\/span>\u00a0removed Hunter and Ashley Biden\u2019s Secret Service detail after learning of the \u2018ridiculous\u2019 cost to taxpayers,\u00a0citing Hunter\u2019s recent trip to\u00a0South Africa<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Joe Biden<\/span>\u00a0gave his children six months of Secret Service protection after he left office. It\u2019s not an unusual move by a president. Trump gave his children six months of protection after his first term.<\/p>\n

But Trump blasted Biden\u2019s son for going to South Africa and taking his detail, citing the high cost to the U.S. taxpayer. Hunter\u2019s wife Melissa Cohen is originally from South Africa.<\/p>\n

Hunter has 18 agents. Ashley has 13 in her detail.<\/p>\n

The president\u2019s announcement came hours after a reporter asked Trump about Hunter\u2019s detail. The president said he had not been aware of it but would look into it.<\/p>\n

Please be advised that, effective immediately, Hunter Biden will no longer receive Secret Service protection. Likewise, Ashley Biden who has 13 agents will be taken off the list.\u2019<\/p>\n

Ashley Biden lives and works in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

Typically, former presidents and first ladies are protected by Secret Service for life, but their children are not guaranteed protection after they turn 16 unless the president gives it to them.<\/p>\n

Hunter Biden was photographed in Cape Town last week, staying in a\u00a0$500-a-night beachfront villa.<\/p>\n

A Secret Service detail, reported to be made up of 18 agents, was with him.<\/p>\n

The cost to the taxpayer could run up to $500,000. Additionally, the Secret Service is stretched thin given their protection of President Trump and his children.<\/p>\n

Trump extended Secret Service protection to his four adult children for six months after he left office in 2021.<\/p>\n

Democrats criticized the move and its $1.7 million cost.<\/p>\n

The Biden children aren\u2019t the only ones to lose their government protection. In the first month of his presidency Trump removed security details for his former National Security Adviser John Bolton and Dr. Anthony Fauci.<\/p>\n

Hunter\u2019s legal letter claims he has struggled to find a new home for himself, wife Melissa Cohen Biden, 38, and toddler Beau Jr., age four, after the January fires<\/p>\n

Hunter Biden was convicted of firearms charges and tax evasion charges until he was pardoned by his father before the elder Biden left office.<\/p>\n

Trump announced he was voiding Biden\u2019s pardons but it\u2019s unclear if he can legally do that.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Hunter\u00a0claims to be in dire financial straights<\/span>.<\/p>\n

In a filing with a federal court in March, he said he\u2019s struggling to sell his artwork and his book sales have plummeted.<\/p>\n

Hunter\u2019s legal letter also claims he has\u00a0struggled to find a new home for himself, wife Melissa Cohen Biden, 38, and toddler Beau Jr., age four, after the January fires<\/span>.<\/p>\n

\u2018So, plaintiff must focus his time and resources dealing with his relocation, the damage he has incurred due to the fires, and paying for his family\u2019s living expenses as opposed to this litigation.\u2019<\/p>\n

The former First Son has significant\u00a0personal\u00a0expenses, including a reported $5,000 per month in child support to his six-year-old daughter Navy Joan Roberts with his former assistant Lunden Roberts.<\/p>\n

He also\u00a0owes\u00a0ex-wife Kathleen Buhle $2.9 million in alimony, according to a June 2024 report by Axios.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, funding for Ashley Biden\u2019s\u00a0charity is being questioned<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The 43-year-old former first daughter is a social worker whose passion is helping women released from prison<\/p>\n

But\u00a0a top figure from a think tank closely associated with the Trump\u00a0White House<\/span>\u00a0said the\u00a0quarter-million dollar donation made by Prince Harry and\u00a0Meghan Markle<\/span>\u2018s charitable foundation to Ashley Biden\u2019s group\u00a0should be\u00a0thoroughly investigated.<\/p>\n

The couple\u2019s non-profit organization, Archewell, was revealed to be a founding partner of Ashley Biden\u2019s initiative, Women\u2019s Wellness (Spa)ce, to which they contributed the six-figure sum, according to the charity\u2019s impact report published last December.<\/p>\n

The donation was made some time in the 2023-2024 tax year, according to Archewell\u2019s annual report.<\/p>\n

Gardiner said there should be \u2018full transparency and oversight\u2019 of the $250,000 donation from Archewell.<\/p>\n

He said: \u2018I do think there should be significant scrutiny of that\u2019.<\/p>\n
