The 36-year-old host\u00a0announced she has breast cancer<\/span>\u00a0and will be undergoing a double mastectomy in February.<\/p>\n

\u2018Last week, I welcomed my first child into the world. About fifteen hours before I went into labor, I was diagnosed with breast cancer,\u2019 the post read.<\/p>\n

\u2018My doctors say it\u2019s stage zero and is confident that it almost certainly hasn\u2019t spread.\u2019<\/p>\n

She\u00a0received her diagnosis\u00a0<\/span>just hours before giving birth to her son after working well into her third trimester.<\/p>\n

Timpf expressed her gratitude for the internet\u2019s support after sharing the news but admitted that the sheer volume of well-meaning advice had left her feeling \u2018overwhelmed.\u2019<\/p>\n

The new mother posted a picture outside the top-ranked Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u2018But I wanted to address a few things because I\u2019ve also been overwhelmed with, I guess you could say, medical advice?\u2019<\/p>\n

Timpf went on to describe the comments, which included some criticism over her doctor\u2019s advice that undergoing a double mastectomy as soon as possible would be the best course of action.<\/p>\n

Though not ill-intended, some users went on to describe their own loved ones stage-zero diagnosis.<\/p>\n

Some, Timpf said, had recommended that a double mastectomy wasn\u2019t the best course of action as some of their family members only needed a lumpectomy to treat the cancer.<\/p>\n

Others, she explained, had claimed themselves to be a nurse before declaring that a double mastectomy for stage-zero cancer sounds \u2018extreme.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018I just want to say, trust me, there\u2019s no one for whom that seems more extreme than me,\u2019 Timpf said.<\/p>\n

\u2018I don\u2019t take cutting my t*** off lightly,\u2019 she continued. \u2018As a general rule, I don\u2019t think any woman does. I find it devastating. But I am very grateful to have access to the opinions of many brilliant minds when it comes to breast cancer.\u2019<\/p>\n

Despite referring to the extensive procedure as \u2018devastating,\u2019 Timpf emphasized the expertise of the team of health experts guiding her through the process, confidently asserting that they know what is best for her own body.<\/p>\n

\u2018I have been very lucky to have a team that is very knowledgeable on this, I\u2019ve talked to a lot of different people and the focus of all of these conversations is what\u2019s the best thing to do to keep my alive so I\u2019m around for my son for a long time,\u2019 she added.<\/p>\n
