People were calling me everything from irresponsible to an environmental terrorist. It was bizarre but telling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe Didn\u2019t Plan for Nine \u2014 They Were Gifts\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Despite the assumptions people make, Campos-Duffy never set out with a goal of having a large family. \u201c<strong><em>We didn\u2019t plan all of them. Each one just came, and we took them as blessings. This last one was actually a surprise \u2014 I thought I was getting too old. But there\u2019s something special about what happens when you have a big household. The friendships my kids form with each other are something I cherish deeply<\/em><\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That sibling dynamic isn\u2019t just emotional \u2014 it\u2019s practical. \u201cI don\u2019t need to set up constant playdates. They\u2019ve got each other, and they play well together. It shapes their marriage, parenting, and daily life. \u201cOur family is only as strong as our marriage, and faith gives it that foundation. <strong><em>We pray together, attend Mass, and even though it\u2019s not always perfect, it provides direction and purpose<\/em><\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of Rachel\u2019s favorite mottos as a parent is simple: <em>\u201cMy job isn\u2019t to get you into Harvard. But kindness, compassion, and faith \u2014 that\u2019s what really matters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Seeing Each Child as an Individual<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When critics argue that large families leave children starved for attention, Campos-Duffy doesn\u2019t deny it\u2019s a concern. But she also offers a counterpoint. \u201cYou can also spoil a child by giving them too much attention and not enough responsibility. Her response is blunt: \u201cLook at our tax bill. Sean and I have always worked.<\/p>\n<p>When we first got married, we could\u2019ve qualified for benefits \u2014 but we didn\u2019t take them. We support our family and try to raise kids who will contribute more to society than they take.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Work-Life Balance: It\u2019s a Myth \u2014 But We Try<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Although she now has a national media career, Campos-Duffy spent 14 years as a stay-at-home mom before re-entering the workforce.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI started writing and working part-time for the Libre Initiative. Eventually, I joined Fox News, and I\u2019m lucky \u2014 I can do most of my work from a studio near our home.
