In a long post,\u00a0Timpf\u00a0told the world that she was diagnosed with stage zero\u00a0breast cancer.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast week, I welcomed my first child into the world. About fifteen hours before I went into labor, I was diagnosed with breast cancer,\u201d Timpf wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, before you worry, my doctor says it\u2019s Stage 0 and is confident that it almost certainly hasn\u2019t spread.<\/p>\n

\u201cOr, as I\u2019ve explained to the few people I\u2019ve managed to tell about it so far: Don\u2019t freak out. It\u2019s just, like, a LITTLE bit of cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n

She ended her announcement by saying that she feels \u201clucky\u201d to have caught the disease so early and to be a mother to her newborn son.<\/p>\n

Timpf, who stars on the Fox News show Gutfeld and wrote the book I Used to Like You Until, is answering her followers\u2019 questions on\u00a0Instagram\u00a0regarding her diagnosis and treatment plans.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you so much for all of the support; it\u2019s meant so much to me,\u201d Timpf began her video.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is obviously a really crazy, difficult time, and I really do appreciate it. But I wanted to address a few things because I\u2019ve also been really overwhelmed with medical advice.\u201d

Timpf said she doesn\u2019t take the operation \u201clightly\u201d but is following the advice of medical professionals around her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI find it devastating, but I am very grateful to have access to the opinions of many brilliant minds when it comes to breast cancer,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been very lucky to have a team that is very knowledgeable on this and the focus of all these conversations is what\u2019s the best thing to do to keep me alive so I\u2019m around for my son for a long time.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery case of breast cancer is very different. There are a lot of details of mine that I haven\u2019t shared.\u201d<\/p>\n

The author asked her followers to \u201ctrust\u201d that she is making the right choice for herself and everyone else in her life.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to say trust that I\u2019m making the best decision for me and my family,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

An Unconventional Birth Announcement<\/strong><\/p>\n

Still, it was not a chill day. I mean, to say the least! I woke up more-than-a-week-past-due pregnant, completely consumed by doing everything I could to get the baby out. By the middle of the afternoon, I was waddling around from appointment to appointment, talking about how to get my\u00a0cancer<\/em>\u00a0out. I sat and listened as they told me that the best course of action would likely be a double mastectomy as soon as possible. I asked all the questions I could, including if I could get a copy of my tumor ultrasound to put on the fridge next to the ultrasound of my baby. Finally, by the middle of the night, I was crawling around on the floor of my apartment in spontaneous labor, before heading to the hospital to meet my baby, whom I\u2019d learn at the time of birth was a son.<\/p>\n

The good news? People who work at hospitals make excellent audiences for dark humor \u2014 and, as someone whose first book was about the power of jokes to get through traumatic situations, there was really no better place for me to be. Just minutes after my boy was born, I was talking with the nurses about what a birth announcement in my situation might look like.<\/p>\n

Should I go with \u201cMom and baby are doing well, except maybe for mom\u2019s cancer, and then maybe the baby after breastfeeding is stunted by her double mastectomy,\u201d and then shut off my phone for a week?<\/em><\/p>\n

Anyway! These next three months of maternity leave are going to look a lot different than I\u2019d anticipated, and I\u2019m still getting used to my new reality. Still, as I navigate new motherhood (and new cancer) I\u2019m learning to celebrate everything I can. I\u2019m lucky that we found the cancer so early; I\u2019m lucky to be my son\u2019s mom. I mean, I know I\u2019m biased, but the little dude absolutely rules \u2014 and not just because he might have saved my life.<\/p>\n

Thank you all for your support, laughter, and love as I embrace this wildly unexpected chapter. Here\u2019s to resilience, to miracles in the midst of chaos, and to finding humor and hope even on the toughest days.<\/p>\n
