When her mom ultimately convinced her to go to rehab to get clean, Muthart sought a final high before quitting.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\">\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1873382\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-6\">\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1901504\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"\">Terrifyingly, the drug made her believe that \u201ceveryone would die if I didn\u2019t tear out my eyes immediately\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI remember thinking that someone had to sacrifice something important to right the world, and that person was me,\u201d she told South West News Service via The Daily Mail. \u201cI got on my hands and knees, pounding the ground and praying, \u2018Why me? Why do I have to do this?\u2019\u201c<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">She went on to explain: \u201cI pushed my thumb, pointer, and middle finger into each eye. I gripped each eyeball, twisted, and pulled until each eye popped out of the socket \u2014 it felt like a massive struggle, the hardest thing I ever had to do.\u201d She said that the church pastor found her screaming, \u201cI want to see the light.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cHe later said, when he found me, that I was holding my eyeballs in my hands. I had squished them, although they were somehow still attached to my head,\u201d Muthart explains.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-4\">\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1984872\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"\">The horrific undertaking left Kaylee permanently blind, though she managed to kick her drug habit and has since turned her life around.
