Shamar Elkins killed his seven children and their cousin in the worst mass shooting in the U.S since January 2024. He had previously spoken about having \u201cdemons\u201d with his stepfather, and now, new chilling details arise. Per The New York Times, he threatened to kill both his wife and his children years ago.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shamar Elkins\u2019 adoptive mother, Betty Walker, has shared horrifying details on Shamar Elkins, the father who killed his seven children and their cousin, and injured his wife as well as his girlfriend in the mass shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana, on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Per reports, the father shot the majority of the children in the head while they were sleeping,\u00a0Shreveport Corporal<\/em>\u00a0Chruistopher Bordelon said Monday. Some of the children tried escaping through a back door and through the roof, but were shot dead.<\/p>\n

Police found the eight children dead in the rental home as they responded to a 911 call about a domestic disturbance. The children\u2019s ages ranged from 3 to 11.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s blood and bodies everywhere,\u201d Bordelon said. \u201cSome were shot in the bed, some were shot trying to get away.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he just had it in his mind he was going to kill everybody in the house,\u201d he continued. \u201cI don\u2019t think there was much thought processes to order, I don\u2019t know that he necessarily had a plan other than just to kill everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shamar Elkins killed his seven children and their cousin<\/h2>\n

The motive behind the horrifying murders, which have left an entire nation in shock, is still unknown. Shamar Elkins, who later died either by being shot by police or committing suicide following a carjacking, and his wife, Shaneiqua Pugh. They were set to divorce and were supposed to appear in court on Monday.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, his stepfather, Marcus Jackson, revealed to\u00a0The New York Times<\/a>\u00a0that Elkins had confessed he was drowning in \u201cdark thoughts\u201d weeks before the horrific murders of his seven children and their cousin.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the killer hinted at mental-health issues in a recent Facebook post, where he called for God to \u201cguard\u201d his mind.<\/p>\n

\u201cDear God, Today I ask You to help me guard my mind and my emotions,\u201d a post from April 9 read. \u201cWhen negativity arises, remind me to say, \u2018It does not belong to me, in the name of Jesus.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI told him, \u2018You can beat stuff, man. I don\u2019t care what you\u2019re going through, you can beat it,\u2019\u201d Jackson told The\u00a0New York Times<\/a>. \u201cThen I remember him telling me: \u2018Some people don\u2019t come back from their demons.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Adoptive mother reveals Shamar Elkins chilling threat to wife years before murders<\/h2>\n

A neighbor to the family, Fred Montgomery, told\u00a0CBS News<\/a>\u00a0he saw no warning signs that something was wrong.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe kids played in the yard every evening,\u201d Montgomery said. \u201cYesterday evening, he was sitting on the porch, I waved at him, he waved back, the children were in the yard \u2026 and then this morning we woke up to all of this.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, others disagree. Lashuan Berry, the owner of Valley of Hope Center for Kids daycare. She knew Elkins and his family, and told\u00a0KSLA<\/a>\u00a0that he sometimes appeared emotionally detached.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou could see in his eyes, nothing behind the eyes. Dead behind the eyes,\u201d Berry said. \u201cNo soul. NPC, non-player character. He didn\u2019t have one.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, new horrifying details about Shamar Elkins have been revealed. Per\u00a0The New York Times<\/a>, his adoptive mother, Betty Walker, has claimed he threatened to kill his wife, Shaneiqua, and his children years before the unthinkable crime on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Betty Walker recalled being in the kitchen, cooking, when her adopted son made the chilling remark while sitting on the couch with Pugh, while their four daughters played outside.<\/p>\n

Shamar Elkins tried taking his own life in February<\/h2>\n

Walker walked up to Elkins and told him, \u201cDon\u2019t think like that,\u201d while Shaneiqua said her husband was \u201cjust playing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Betty, who explained she raised Shamar Elkins as his own son, as his biological mom was a drug addict when he was born, replied, \u201cWell, don\u2019t play like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

She told the NY Times she \u201cnever thought\u201d her adoptive son would actually \u201cgo through killing himself and these kids.\u201d Walker added that the couple had accused each other of cheating throughout their marriage. Financial difficulties and tensions between the two were a constant.<\/p>\n

In February, Betty Walker revealed that Shamar Elkins tried to take his own life. However, he didn\u2019t go through with it. He was later admitted to a Veterans Affairs hospital for a week and a half after he stopped in for a mental-health evaluation.<\/p>\n
