On Nov. 26,Ā Maye Musk, mother ofĀ tech mogulĀ Elon Musk, appeared on Fox BusinessāsĀ Varney & Co.Ā with hostĀ Stuart Varney. The conversation covered everything from her sonās growing influence in government to his personal relationship withĀ Donald Trump. But as much as the interview touched on politics and business, what stood out most was MayeāsĀ heartfelt pride in her son.

When Varney asked about the dynamic between Elon and Trump, Maye kept it simple and genuine: āThey just seem to be having fun. A lot of fun. Itās nice for both of them to have fun,ā she said with a warm smile. Although sheās seen them together, she noted, āOf course, Iāve seen them together, but very shortly. I live in New York, and theyāre in Mar-a-Lago or at aĀ SpaceXĀ launch.ā
While Elonās business ventures often dominate headlines, Maye highlighted how much her son respects Trump and feels optimistic about the countryās future. āHe really respects him a lot and is really happy that thereās a future for America now,ā she shared.
The conversation shifted to government spending, a topic Elon is reportedly passionate about. When asked if heās excited about reducing federal expenses, Maye answered, yes, adding ābecause itās going to be very easy.ā She pointed to Elonās swift actions after acquiring Twitter in 2022, where he made immediate changes, including significant layoffs, as an example of his no-nonsense approach.
Maye also gave her thoughts on government inefficiencies, recalling meetings sheād attended where the first issue discussed was getting federal employees back to work. She emphasized that buildings are sitting empty, which taxpayers ultimately pay forāa situation she doesnāt find fair. āGet to work. And most wonāt want to come back to work,ā she remarked. She also questioned the productivity of certain government roles, adding, āIf you havenāt done something in the past week, why are you there?ā
But the interview wasnāt all business. When Varney asked, āDo people like your son?ā Maye couldnāt help but laugh, replying enthusiastically, āYes! Oh yes!ā Her pride was unmistakable. Varney followed up, noting, āHe walks around as the wealthiest man in the world bar none. Do they like him, really?ā

Thatās when Maye made one of her most striking comments: āI donāt like the word wealthy or billionaire or things like that because I think itās degrading. I think heās the genius of the world, and people are loving him for that.ā She added, āWhen they see me, they go crazy because Iām his mother,ā but clarified that admiration for Elon isnāt just about his success. āThey respect him, and Iām very proud of him.ā
This isnāt the first time Maye has gushed about her sonās brilliance. In a 2021 interview onĀ CBS This Morning, she fondly recalled realizing Elon was special whenĀ he was just 3 years old. āI knew he was a genius,ā she said.
While Maye has anĀ impressive career of her ownāas a model, dietitian, and authorāshe remains unabashedly proud of Elon. Whether discussing his business moves, political ties, or personal quirks, one thing is clear: to Maye, heās not just the worldās richest manāheās her brilliant son.
