Conspiracy Theories Are Taking Over The Internet In Karmelo Anthony’s Fatal Stabbing Of Austin Metcalf At Track Meet

The death of young high school athlete Austin Metcalf shook the whole internet.

While the FBI and police department are still coming to a conclusion, social media theorists and illicit accounts are spreading conspiracy theories. 

Karmelo Anthony, 17, reportedly stabbed Metcalf in the chest on April 2, 2025, during an altercation at a track meet. The confrontation escalated quickly when Anthony allegedly pulled out a knife, leading to Metcalf’s fatal injury.

Following the incident, numerous fraudulent social media accounts have emerged, impersonating local officials. One of the alleged accounts claimed itself to be Frisco Police Chief David Shilson and another as the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office. 

One widely circulated fake post falsely claimed that Metcalf died from an “MDMA drug overdose.” According to the post, a stab wound was a secondary cause of death. Officials have clarified that no such medical
