This bold and generous move has left fans and industry leaders in awe. Musk, known for his groundbreaking ventures, took to Twitter to announce his extraordinary gesture, saying, “I support you, CC.” This donation is poised to make a major impact on the future of women’s basketball.
Musk, the visionary entrepreneur behind Tesla, SpaceX, and several other groundbreaking ventures, has long been known for his bold and unconventional moves. His latest act of philanthropy is no different, as he took to Twitter to announce his support for Clark. The tweet read, “I support you, CC,” signaling his personal endorsement and commitment to empowering the talented player.
Caitlin Clark, who has become a household name in college basketball, has been a standout force for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Her exceptional skills on the court, leadership, and determination have made her one of the most dominant players in the game today. Musk’s donation is seen as a powerful endorsement not only of Clark but also of the potential and future of women’s college basketball.
The $10 million donation from Musk is groundbreaking in multiple ways. For one, it’s one of the largest individual contributions to a college athlete in recent memory, marking a significant shift in how athletes, especially women in sports, are supported financially.
This substantial donation is expected to provide Caitlin Clark with the resources and opportunities to further elevate her game, pursue her dreams, and potentially lay the groundwork for future generations of athletes. While the specifics of how the money will be allocated remain unclear, it’s certain that this gift will help to address many aspects of her athletic and academic career, including training, endorsements, and the necessary infrastructure to continue to excel.
Moreover, Musk’s donation is a clear message to the sports industry that college athletes, particularly women, deserve the same level of recognition and financial backing as their male counterparts. It also highlights the growing movement of high-profile figures using their wealth and influence to support athletes in a way that transcends traditional sponsorships.
Former Iowa star Caitlin Clark, who built a storied career with the Hawkeyes, took to social media Friday to endorse FGCU’s hiring of Hawkeyes assistant coach Raina Harmon.
On her Instagram account, Clark posted the FGCU women’s basketball post announcing Harmon as an Instagram Story with the message “It’s go eagles now!! @raina15 EARNED IT!!!!!”
Clark, now a WNBA star with the WNBA Indiana Fever, became the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer, the NCAA Division I single-season 3-point record holder, and a two-time AP Player of the Year while with Harmon at Iowa.
Clark also posted a comment in the FGCU women’s basketball Instagram post ” Merch needed.”

Iowa and Clark played in Southwest Florida during the 2023 season, winning the Gulf Coast Showcase title in Estro over Kansas State. The senior guard poured in a game-high 32 points as the Hawkeyes held off a late charge by the Wildcats and claimed the championship with a 77-70 victory at Hertz Arena.
The Hawkeyes played FGCU in the first round of the Gulf Coast Showcase that year and won 100-62 before a largely pro-Iowa crowd of 4,257. Clark finished with 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists in 26 minutes.
Harmon has been an assistant coach for Iowa since being hired in 2017 and was on the bench when the Hawkeyes finished as the NCAA runner-up in 2023 and 2024.
